Social Traffic Pop for WordPress

The Social Media Slayer

How to Install

Installing Social Traffic Pop requires not code, no theme modification, and installs as easy as any other plugin.

  1. Upload the social-traffic-pop folder to your WordPress plugin directory. ( wp-content/plugins )
  2. Activate the plugin from your WordPress plugin administration page.
  3. You can now go the Social Traffic Pop settings page to configure it!

Many WordPress plugins that use the Facebook API do not correctly check the callback information. These plugins can greatly interfere with Social Traffic Pop. This is because Facebook uses listener events instead of specifying a callback function for when the like button is clicked. Before assuming Social Traffic Pop is broken, check your other Facebook plugins and make sure they properly load the jQuery and Facebook APIs, and also correctly handle and check callback data for the like button.

How to Use

Setting up Social Traffic Pop is very easy! By default when you install the plugin it will be disabled so you can set the plugin up how you like before making it live to your users.

Popup Title and Message - Set the title and the message you want to appear when the pop up is shown to your user. Pay careful attention toy your string encapsulation when using quotations.

Google +1 URL - This is the URL that will be shared on the Google +1 service when a visitor presses the plus one button.

LinkedIn Share URL - This is the URL that will be shared when using the LinkedIn Share button.

Facebook Like URL - This is the URL that will be liked on Facebook if a user chooses to press the Like button.

You can use different URLs for each of the buttons if you want! You can also use Facebook Fan pages, or any URL you can think of as long as it is valid. You must use a valid, existing URL that returns a header code of 200 as required by Facebook and Google.

Twitter Username - The username you want to use for the follow button. This is only required if you have the Twitter method setting set to follow. When the user clicks it they will follow the username you enter here.

Twitter Method - Here you can select to have the user either follow a given twitter user or make a tweet about the current page they are on.

Show Close Button - Set to true to display the optional close button.

Advanced Close Features - When set to enabled the user can close the popup by clicking outside of it or by using the escape key.

onClick Class - This feature allows you to set a class that launches Social Traffic Pop on click. Any element that has this class will open the open when a user clicks it. In the case of links it will prevent the default action and stop propigation as well.

Countdown Length - The number of seconds the timer should run for before the popup closes on its own. You can also set the timer to 0 seconds to disable it and make the user either use a close function (if enabled) or by doing a social share.

Wait Timer - The wait timer is the number of minuets the script should wait before the user sees the popup again. For example if set to 3 the user would see the popup when first coming to the page and then they would not see the popup again between page loads for 3 minuets. You can also set the timer to 0 so the popup will show every page load until the user completes a social share.

Background Opacity - A number between 10 and 90 for how dark the popup background is.

- Support - BEFORE posting negative comments and giving a poor rating please keep in mind that there are tons of outside issues that can cause a plugin not to work. 9 / 10 times I get a negative review about a plugin not working its because of user error, a bad installation, improper settings, or other on page errors causing thing to go whacky. Please SEND AN EMAIL to have your issue looked over before taking to bashing as it will only make the support process more tedious.
